WAR
Barret Strong/Norman Whitfield/Edwin Star

War
What is it good for
Absolutely nothing
War
What is it good for
Absolutely nothing
War is something that I despise
For it means destruction of innocent lives
For it means tears in thousands of mothers' eyes
When their sons go out to fight to give their lives

War
What is it good for
Absolutely nothing
Say it again
War
What is it good for
Absolutely nothing

War
It's nothing but a heartbreaker
War
Friend only to the undertaker
War is the enemy of all mankind
The thought of war blows my mind
Handed down from generation to generation
Induction destruction
Who wants to die

War
What is it good for
Absolutely nothing
Say it again
War
What is it good for
Absolutely nothing

War has shattered many young men's dreams
Made them disabled bitter and meanLife is too precious to be fighting wars
each day
War can't give life it can only take it away

War
It's nothing but a heartbreaker
War
Friend only to the undertaker
Peace love and understanding
There must be some place for these things today
They say we must fight to keep our freedom
But Lord there's gotta be a better way
That's better than
War

War
What is it good for
Absolutely nothing
Say it again
War
What is it good for
Absolutely nothing

THE HOMELESS DOVE

THE PAPER I READ IS FULL OF THE BLOOD OF WAR--

YET THE POOR EAT DOG FOOD AND GARBAGE

AND SLEEP THE NIGHT UNDER A BRIDGE.

MONEY FOR WAR, MONEY FOR OIL,

BUT WILL WE EVER LEARN,

THAT PEACE HAS NO BOUNDRY FOR GOOD,

AND THAT WAR HAS NO SOUL...

El Pablo

WAR

We are too old to go,

And young enough to care.

With the smell of bodies burning,

And sights that grow evenworse,

When you close your eyes.

Take the billions of dollars spent on the war,

Throw it into Palestine,

Leave the Sadamm "chess piece" alone,

For he was the perfect balance against the menace of nuclear Iran--

And a lasting peace would have been found.

Instead, we are overwhelmed by carnage, corruption& lies,

With over 1000 U.S. dead so far,

And no end in sight.

I pity the man,

That does not see Vietnam.

El Pablo

THE LONELY SOLDIER OF PEACE

THROW AWAY YOUR GUNS & BOMBS,

AND PROCLAIM PEACE THROUGHOUT THE LAND!!

CRY-OUT, NOT FOR A VICTORY OVER WAR,

OR A NEVER-LASTING PEACE.

BECAUSE THE WAR ISN'T OVER,

WHEN BATTLEFIELD DEATHS CONTINUE,

AND BLOOD RUNS OVER OUR EARTH.

ADMIT, OH POLITICIAN,

AND LEADERS OF OUR LAND,

THATTHEWAR,

WAS A GRAB FOR SCARCE RESOURCES,

AND THE OUR WAY OF LIFE,

WAS NEVER THREATENED.

CRY NOT FOR LIBERTY,

AND THE RED, WHITE & BLUE,

OH DECEIVED AMERICAN PATRIOT!!

CRY NOT FOR PEACE.

El Pablo

WHY WAR?

The pain, oh the deep burning pain,

When I think at all,

Of the battlefield...

Cause I have a bullet too,

Covered with infected and corrupted blood,

That I hid from you,

As we stood and watched

Horror unrelenting,

The child dying in our arms,

Who never had a past,

As long as the price of oil

Has a future?

El Pablo

SOLDIER NO MORE

Engraved are dark shadows under his eyes,

The steady heaving walk, the savory talk,

But his mind dreams only of home,

Instead the desert sands,

Blow in his eyes to an unrelenting blur.

And the wind seems to cry "runnn for ittttt!!!!!!."

206 days, 5 hours and 15 minutes in Iraq,

Only to be told that he must deplore 6 months more.

The politicians say you stay.

And the torture of this man continues,

Seeing what no man need see in his lifetime,

Any innocence lost forever gone,

He hears a shot ring out from a window,

And blood gushing from his forehead.

Then there is no more.

Now, he is home by way of Dover,

And peace is achieved,

At least for him...

Only 6 feet under.

El Pablo

WAKE UP CALL

Men wake up to die,

In dirty uniforms,

On a hot desert soil.

Many say "I will not die today"

And go about their business.

Only to be riding along,

And get a bullet to the brain.

They are here because

Of the poverty in their hometown,

The enticement of money,

And the lure of a career.

So the political machine grinds on,

As the men fall by the wayside,

Wasted souls never to return home.

El Pablo
